Covid-19: Travel to Vietnam

The following information is a summary of the Vietnamese official Information on Vietnam’s traveling requirements. It is a current snapshot of the COVID-19 situation as of March 1st, 20221 in Vietnam as far as international tourists are concerned.

To travel to Vietnam, you must meet the following conditions:

  • Present proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, with the last dose at least 14 days and not more than 1 year prior to the date of entry.  Or present a certificate of recovery from COVID-19. The time between hospital discharge and entry date must not exceed 6 months.
  • Present a negative result from an RT-PCR/RT-LAMP-method test administered within 72 hours before boarding (from the time of test). 
  • Have medical or travel insurance that covers COVID-19 treatment, with a minimum liability of $20,000.’s notes:  About Medical Insurance requirement: You can check with your traveling agency on how to obtain medical travel insurance.  Or you can go to and after providing information about your trip, the site will generate a list of companies with coverage terms and costs that you can compare and select.  Keep in mind that these quotes include trip cancellation, lost baggage, etc. that if you remove them from the coverage and only focus on medical, the cost will drop significantly.
